Thank you for enquiring about having a baptism service for your child or yourself
At St. Luke’s we have the pleasure of baptising many adults and children each year and we look forward to you and your family becoming part of our family.
Your child is precious to you and precious to God. You want the very best for them, and so does God. You want them to make right choices in life, for themselves and for others.
A christening is just the beginning of this and so much more. Over the years to come, it’s a journey you’ll share together with your child by:
At St. Luke’s we can hold baptism services on the 1st Sunday of the month which is our Family Worship Service or our Morning Prayer Service which is held on the 3rd Sunday in the Month. Both of these services begin at 10.00a.m.
How do you book a service?
Firstly, please call us on 07986733545 to introduce yourself and we can explain the process to you.
We will invite you to attend a service on one of the times listed above.
After attending that service, you will meet with one of our congregation to discuss your child’s or your own baptism.
Will I need to choose Godparents?
There should be a minimum of two Godparents, but you may choose more, and preferably at least one male and one female.
The role of a Godparent in a baptism service is a significant part of the service and the child’s life as they grow. They will be making promises in front of God and committing to be an active part of your child’s life. Your God parents must have been baptised them selves
Closer to the time of the service we will arrange to visit you at home to talk through the service, what is involved, take some details for the baptism register and confirm who the Godparent’s will be.
This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions or discuss any special arrangements you may require.
Once your service is booked in you can begin to plan for any celebration you may be having after the service.
Baptisms are a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to celebrate together. We look forward to welcoming you and your family to our church.
